ADA Releases COVID-19 Testing Toolkit: POC Testing Not Permitted for Texas Dentists

Oct 13, 2020
Today, the American Dental Association (ADA) released a COVID-19 testing toolkit. Texas dentists are reminded that it is the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners’ position that dentists are not authorized to perform COVID-19 testing.

The Texas Dental Association (TDA) is studying and monitoring the development of fast, reliable, and affordable point-of-care testing such as the new BinaxNOW™ and will continue active discussions about Texas dentists being able to use point-of-care testing to detect active coronavirus infections. It has been TDA’s position that dentists need a fast point-of-care test that accurately predicts the presence or absence of COVID-19 virus in real time.
