Legislative Update: How Redistricting Affects TDA Advocacy
The Texas Legislature recently redrew congressional, state Senate/House, and State Board of Education districts as required by the Texas Constitution. The legislature redraws these districts every ten years following the federal government’s decennial census. These new districts will be in effect for the elections in 2022.
TDA’s advocacy efforts depend greatly upon dentists’ relationships with their lawmakers. Redistricting can change the district(s) that represent you as well as the individual(s) who represent you. Candidates for these districts have until mid-December to declare if they will run. TDA will provide an update to the membership after the deadline with information on the elections, how TDA is involved, and how members can get involved.
